iPhone ComplaintsProblems that do crop up have a tendency to commonly involve connectivity problems which include jammed connections and iTunes communication issues that may take days to resolve causing frustration for new users. The most common complaints are: Poor camera quality. You can buy cheaper phones with around five megapixels of quality, but the iPhone provides just two megapixels. It has no optical zoom, flash or autofocus, and does not support video recording. The iPhone headphone socket is unique to the phone. On the original it is recessed, making it incompatible with most headsets without the use of an adapter . On the 3G it isn't so the problem goes away. Poor screen protection. I found this one difficult to comprehend as Apple have made the effort to make the touch screen anti-scratch – at least for minor to moderate levels of protection. I suppose if you put it in your pocket with your keys, then you could have problems, but the actual complaints are allegedly to do with the sleeves and cases. Most bizarre. The user cannot replace the batteries. This is a common complaint which is often not discovered until some time after the purchase has been made. If the battery needs replacing, the iPhone has to be sent back to Apple. If under warranty then the process is free, if not you pay a high cost. You will then be without the phone for three days and if you do not back up your personal data, you have lost the lot! Finger size may not match icon size. Users who have fingertips that are larger than the icons may struggle to operate the touch screen controls. Bluetooth operational issue – sending or opening files cannot be done with the iPhone. Software issues include: no voice dialling, a limited number of tunes available as a ringtone, inability to use iTunes music for ringtones, no cut/paste facility for files via email, inability to edit Microsoft documents on the iPhone (display only), no flash support. So, with such a list of complaints, why do people keep buying them? I can only suggest that it comes down to the “cool” fashion factor and the fact that despite the complaints, there really are an incredible range of things that the iPhone can do that enable it to become an integral part of the user's everyday life. At least now, if you have not already bought an iPhone, you can make an informed decision before you dash out with your wad of notes to buy one. There are an increasing range of alternatives on the counter that you can now consider. Comments |
